Texas heat is no joke. I am a daily rider and needed a cooler, but protective jacket. I was skeptical about this outerwear. However; I was pleasantly surprised the first 85 degree morning that i wore the jacket. It was actually a cool ride on my arms and torso, compared to the usual warm ride to work. That afternoon riding home in the 105 degree heat was the true test. I didnt break a sweat during the 20 mile ride home on a V-twin, with the in the sun temp of 120 due to the concrete. This was a solid purchase.

So, not quite a 5 start item. First off, it's not a 'shirt' so much as it's an ultra-light jacket. I bought the black because honestly, the other color options just didn't appeal to me as they seemed more aimed at a very particular esthetic which I do not wish to emulate. Comfort is good, the fit was exactly as advertised and with the armor in was comfortable and I was able o move easily and didn't look like I was from outer space while doing it. The venting is, as you can guess, really well done, even on a broiling day, I was able to stay comfortable as the air flow was very good. You will want to wear a shirt under it (as I said, it's more a jacket), and that way you can stop for whatever reason and stay comfortable when there is no airflow to cool you. Now for some of the not so great, the 'concealed carry pocket' isn't. Let's face it, whoever designed it doesn't carry a pistol and didn't both to check with anyone about how such a thing should work. The pocket is built on both a vertical and horizontal square, meaning that to utilize it, you need to somehow maneuver your pistol to move vertical to the ground and horizontal to your body. Sounds like not a bad thing until you realize that with this design, it could take you minutes to safely extract your firearm when you need it in seconds. What I did find, since there was no rush to get it back out, was that I could load my cellphone into pocket and it would hold it quite nicely. This 'jacket' would benefit from another pocket on the other side, not only to increase your load amount, but to work with people that are left handed. So moving on, the 'watertight' pocket is nice, not overly large, but holds my paper and keeps them dry when the inevitable rainstorm visits your ride. It would have been nice if they had installed more than one of these as well honestly. But we'll live with what they have. The outer pockets also seem to be simply functional and work well for your small items. Now that I've talked about all of that, you need to decide how you want to use this garment. I kept it as strictly a 'cruising' wear. With the ability to go inside briefly and not get too many stares (the helmet always draws a few looks anyway). I found it functional, with the exceptions listed, and comfortable for hours of riding and yes, hundreds of miles. Overall, I say it's a four (4) star our of five (5) due to the badly designed 'special' feature, but the rest of it is exactly the sort of thing you can use for everyday riding and of course, the added knowledge that it gives superior protection to a fashion item you may have instead.
